SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – San Francisco Police on Thursday confirmed the arrest of a suspect on Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery at a business that occurred last month.
On Monday, June 14, at around 11:22 a.m., SFPD officers at the South Station responded to a report of a theft at the All Star Donuts store in the 300 block of 5th Street in the South District of Market. Arriving officers encountered the victim, a store worker, who said a male suspect entered the business, brandished a gun and demanded money.

The victim handed the suspect money from the cash register and the suspect fled on foot. Police were able to obtain surveillance footage that showed the theft from two angles in the store.
SFPD Robbery Detail resumed the investigation and was ultimately able to identify the suspect as Craig Avery Smith, 38, a resident of Oakland, on probation in San Francisco for possession of stolen goods and in Alameda County for possession of narcotics.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for Smith. At around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, agents from SFPD Robbery Detail, the Special Investigations Division and the SFPD Tactical Unit arrested Smith in the 4900 block of Coliseum Way in Oakland.
A gun and additional evidence were seized during the arrest. Smith was incarcerated in the San Francisco County Jail on charges of possession of a firearm, theft and possession of narcotics.
