Pedestrian dies after being struck by multiple cars on SF Bay Freeway

A man died Thursday night after getting in the way of a car on Interstate 80 in Vallejo, triggering a chain accident.

On Wednesday, a pedestrian was struck by at least two cars on a major highway in San Francisco Bay.

The California Highway Patrol has reported the fatal collision in the northbound lanes of Interstate Highway 680 in San Jose.

CHP agent Ross Lee told the East Bay Times the person was struck by a first vehicle and again struck by at least one other car.

CHP reported that all northbound lanes are closed at 5:49 a.m. and traffic is diverted at the Jackson Avenue exit ramp.

The initial report came at 5:26 a.m. from a motorist who said his vehicle collided with a man walking on the highway.


CHP said at 6:45 a.m. the two left lanes would reopen later this morning.

Agents are on site and an investigation is underway.
