Inside Elon Musk’s Bay Area ‘event house’ where he and others are hosting parties

Elon Musk’s name made headlines a lot after it was announced that he was buying Twitter for $44 billion. The CEO of Tesla is the richest man in the world and is worth around $250 billion. He can buy anything he wants, so some people were surprised to learn that he doesn’t own a huge luxury house. In fact, Musk said he doesn’t own a house and usually stays with friends. He does, however, have what he calls an “event house” where he can host parties or rent out for that purpose.

Here’s a look at Musk’s impressive “event house” in the Bay Area.

Musk has no permanent home, stays with friends

Musk opened up about crashing at his friends’ house during an interview with TED’s Chris Anderson.

“I don’t even own a place right now, I’m literally staying with friends,” the SpaceX founder and CEO explained. “If I’m traveling in the Bay Area, where most of Tesla’s engineering is, I’m basically shooting in guest rooms.”

Musk went on to say, “Of course it would be very problematic if I was spending billions of dollars a year on personal consumption, but that’s not the case.”

Asked about his private jet, the tech billionaire said: “If I don’t use the plane, I have fewer hours to work.”

So while Musk may not have a private estate he can call home, he does have a beautiful “event house” located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Musk bought the Hillsborough mansion in 2017 for around $23 million. He put the mansion on the market but with no buyer decided to use the space for events. The house was built in 1916 and has 16,000 square feet of living space. It has six to 10 bedrooms as well as 10 bathrooms located on 47 acres of land.

Some of the other features of the house include a grand entryway, a large upgraded gourmet kitchen, two liquor cellars for wine and spirits, and of course banquet and ballrooms for events Musk or others hold there. .

Outside you will find a swimming pool with a canyon and a reservoir.

In 2020, Musk sold several properties he owned with exclusive neighbors, including three homes in the Bel-Air section of Los Angeles with an estate once owned by actor Gene Wilder.

Musk later confirmed he moved to Texas from California during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and said he was living in a SpaceX rental in the Lone Star State tweetedng“My main house is literally a ~$50,000 house in Boca Chica/Starbase that I rent from SpaceX. It’s kinda awesome though.
