Buffs take doubles victory in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO – Colorado women’s tennis claimed a doubles victory on day three of action here at the Battle In The Bay Classic.

Maria campos teamed up with Mya Bui of San Francisco in the doubles tournament draw, winning over Klara Kosan and Miaangelina Ruja of Pacific in the first round 8-6. The two played in the semi-finals of the draw against Jordyn Mcbride and Abigail Desiatnikov of San Diego, falling in the game 8-2.

Megan Forster and Caroline pozo also played in the doubles draw, losing their match to Jiangxue Han and Isabelle Lee of USC 8-3.

Forster fell yesterday in the first round of the single backdraw in a three-set match against VCU’s Nina Sorkin. Sorkin won the first set 6-2 before Forster came back 6-3 in the second. The pair entered a tiebreaker in the third set where Sorkin won 10-5.

The three women were scheduled to play extra games at the tournament, but the rain delayed that until tomorrow. Pozo was to face Danielle Zamora of Pacific, while Campos was to play against her doubles partner Bui. Forster was scheduled to play against Mia Larrain of Wisconsin, but those opponents could change tomorrow depending on who is available and ready to play.
