Here are three players San Francisco 49ers fans and scouts should watch out for among the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
The NFL San Francisco 49ers and CFL Hamilton Tiger-Cats may not have much in common, but the only common thread they share is that they haven’t won a championship since the 1990s. The two have played in their respectful league games since then, but neither have been able to.
However, they have what it takes to break the curse, and the Niners could find help with Canada’s southernmost team.
With Labor Day weekend in the mirror, the CFL is focusing on running. This year, it’s a sprint towards the playoffs since there are only 14 games on the program.
The East Division of the CFL is similar to the East Division of the NFC. Some teams have to win the division, some teams have to finish second, and in the CFL there is usually a Western cross team.
In 2019, Hamilton ran away with the division title and even finished with the best record in the CFL. They represented the East at the Gray Cup, but eventually gave in to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
This year at 2-2, it’s still the team to beat.
Last time around, we took a look at three Saskatchewan Roughriders the 49ers should watch out for. In an unbalanced loss, linebacker Micah Teitz tallied two tackles, while wide receiver Kyran Moore had 10 catches for 79 yards and a punt return for 16 yards, and returner Marcus Murphy skipped the Labor Day Classic with a toe injury.
This time the focus is on the Tiger-Cats where they have some pretty solid talent dotted around their roster, starting with the man they call “Speedy B” Brandon Banks.
